Kathmandu. Afghanistan defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 5 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup 2019 at Edgbaston on Sunday.
In reply, Afghanistan achieved the target of 161 runs in 19.2 overs at the loss of 5 wickets. For Afghanistan, Ibrahim Zadran scored 53 and Azmatullah Omarzai scored an unbeaten 40 runs. Junaid Siddiqui and Muhammad Arfan took 2 wickets each for UAE.
UAE scored 160 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. UAE’s Sohaib Khan scored 68 runs. Azmatullah Omarzai took 4 wickets for Afghanistan.
With this, Afghanistan registered its first win in the tournament. Afghanistan is in the third position in Group D with 2 points from 3 matches. UAE is in fourth place on the basis of net run rate with 2 points in 3 matches.
The match between England and Italy is currently underway in the T20 World Cup. Australia and Sri Lanka will play at 7:15 pm today.
