Kathmandu. Election Commissioner of the Election Commission (EC) Sagun Shumsher JB Rana has urged all stakeholders directly and indirectly participating in the upcoming elections to be impartial.
Speaking at a discussion programme on ‘Role of Stakeholders and Effective Implementation of Election Code of Conduct’ organized by Election Commission, Nepal and Nepal Law Society in Janakpurdham on Monday, Commissioner Rana stressed the need of cooperation from all quarters to enforce the election code of conduct.
He urged the political parties, civil society, media, security bodies, candidates, employees and organizations participating in the elections to be aware of the code of conduct while carrying out any activities.
The main objective of the code of conduct is to make a free decision by the voters, to hold the election in a free, fearless, free and fair environment and to create an environment of equal competition among all the political parties and candidates.
According to him, the code of conduct is a document prepared to address any unethical conduct and behavior that may take place in the election. He also urged all to conduct the election in a peaceful manner by adhering to the guidelines.
Also speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister of Madhes Province, Krishna Prasad Yadav, stressed the need of holding the election to maintain peace and tranquility in the country.
Chief Minister Yadav said that the election was necessary to take the country back in the right direction and the only alternative was to follow the election code of conduct to hold the election in the right way. The program was attended by candidates of various political parties, media persons, office-bearers of civil society and security agencies.
