Foreign Minister Sharma leaves for Bangladesh

Kathmandu. Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Balananda Sharma, is on a two-day visit to Bangladesh. President Bhandari will leave for Bangladesh on Tuesday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The interim government formed in Bangladesh after the student agitation in 2024 has recently held elections. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won a majority in the election.

BNP president Tarique Rahman will be sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has sent invitations to the heads of governments of Nepal, India, China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan, among others.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at the National Parliament complex in Dhaka. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 4 pm on Tuesday. Foreign Minister Sharma is scheduled to return to Nepal on Wednesday after attending his swearing-in ceremony.
