Kathmandu. The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has expelled former chief minister of Karnali Province Raj Kumar Sharma from the party’s general membership. The party has also initiated the process to scrap his post as a member of the Karnali Province Assembly.
Chief Whip of the party’s Karnali Province Assembly Parliamentary Party, Krishna Bahadur GC, said that the letter was forwarded to the Karnali Province Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday itself. He was elected in the provincial assembly elections of 2079 BS from Rukum (West) and is also the Karnali Province in-charge of the Progressive Democratic Party led by Janardan Sharma.
Chief Whip GC said Sharma was relieved of all his responsibilities including the central committee as per the party statute and Karnali Province Parliamentary Party Statute, 2082, accusing him of deliberately working against the party’s policy, principles, objectives and conduct.
According to him, a letter has been sent to the Political Party Secretariat to initiate the necessary process to relieve Sharma from the post of State Assembly member as per the legal provision as per the clause 32 (2) and (5) of the Political Party Act, 2073.
Karnali Province Assembly Secretariat Secretary Jibraj Budhathoki said that the letter to take action has been registered and necessary process has been initiated. This incident has created a new ripple in the political circles of Karnali Province.
