. The commission has sought clarification from the political parties, candidates, government and non-government organisations, media persons and journalists on the violation of the election code of conduct on the basis of 51 complaints it has received so far. So far, 30 people have responded.
According to NHRC’s Law Officer Mohan Raj Joshi, the cases of the registered media and the journalists associated with them have been forwarded to the Press Council Nepal for action.TAG_OPEN_p_3 At the district level, the Commission has been initiating the process of necessary investigation and action on the basis of the complaints received.
As per Clause 32 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, Assistant Chief District Officers of all 77 districts have been assigned for the monitoring of the code of conduct.TAG_OPEN_p_2 The Chief Fund Controller/Coop Controller is monitoring the financial matters. According to the NHRC, the process is underway to inform all the stakeholders of the district about the code of conduct and ensure compliance of the code of conduct and to initiate legal action if found guilty.
