Kathmandu. Local youths have staged a demonstration along the Postal Highway in Siraha, accusing the authorities concerned of not paying any heed to the frequent road accidents taking place at different places along the Postal Highway.

The youths are angry that safety measures have not been adopted despite the increasing number of human casualties in accidents.

The youths also burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Sushil Karki, Chief District Officer of Siraha district and contractor for the construction of the Postal Highway, Kishori Kalam Sah.

They blamed the haphazard condition of the road, lack of necessary signage and negligence in construction works.

The protesting youths have demanded immediate road improvements, traffic management and accountability of the responsible authorities.

The concerned authorities have warned of further agitation if the initiative is not taken soon.
