Kathmandu. Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has said that the Jenji agitation that took place in August last year and the incidents related to it had a deep impact on the Nepal Police both physically and mentally. Addressing the Nepal Police Strategic Conference here today, Home Minister Aryal stressed the need of revamping organizational capacity, saying the incidents have posed challenges in the organization.
He said, “The Jenji movement that took place in August last year and the incidents that took place in this context have had a major impact on the Nepal Police both physically and mentally. I am confident that the Nepal Police Strategic Conference will be very useful in building a capable and strong organization capable of addressing the latest challenges of security and crime, according to the press release. I would like to express my commitment to extend high support to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Nepal in the implementation of the strategies and plans of Nepal Police. ’
He expressed the belief that the conference would be very useful for building a capable and strong police organization to address the new challenges of security and crime. Similarly, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki said the police personnel should internalize the mantra of truth, service and security. According to him, the Nepal Police has the responsibility to maintain peace, security and order, effective enforcement of laws, prevention and investigation of crimes and to provide accountable and professional police service by protecting human rights. IGP Karki said the people’s expectations towards police have increased with the scope of responsibility being widened.
“Truth, service and security is the main mantra of Nepal Police. According to the Constitution of Nepal, Police Act and prevailing laws, Nepal Police has the responsibility to maintain peace, security and order, effectively implement the laws, prevent and investigate crimes, and provide accountable and professional police service by protecting human rights. The wider the scope of this responsibility, the greater is the public expectation of us. With the implementation of the federal system of governance, the role of Nepal Police, its responsibilities and scope of work are becoming more multi-dimensional. According to him, the role, responsibility and scope of work of Nepal Police had become more extensive and multi-dimensional with the implementation of federal governance system.
