Election Commission to deploy volunteers in all wards of the country for voter education

KATHMANDU — The Election Commission (EC) has decided to mobilize volunteers in all wards of the country in a bid to make voter education effective.TAG_OPEN_p_8 According to the Election Commission, volunteers will be mobilized in 6,743 wards of all 753 rural municipalities through the District Election Office.

According to Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission, Kul Bahadur GC, experienced people among child development facilitators, maternity and child workers, women health volunteers and community service center operators will be appointed as volunteers for voter education.TAG_OPEN_p_7 The programme in this regard has already been approved by the commission on February 2.

According to the EC, the volunteers will be mobilized focusing on voter education and the voters will be informed and practiced so that the vote is not invalidated.TAG_OPEN_p_6 According to the Election Commission, voter education has been considered necessary in view of the election to the House of Representatives after some votes were found invalid in the last elections.

The Commission is preparing to conduct training in all seven provinces on February 15 after completing the volunteer selection and appointment process.TAG_OPEN_p_5 After the training, volunteers will be deployed in all wards across the country.

According to the Commission, the program is expected to help voters vote correctly and play an important role in reducing the number of invalid votes.TAG_OPEN_p_4
