Kathmandu. Baitadi: The Purchaudi municipality has declared a public holiday today following the death of 13 people in a bus accident in Baitadi district. Issuing a press release, the municipality has expressed deep sorrow over the incident. Municipality offices, ward offices, health institutions and educational institutions have been closed today.
Essential services, however, will continue to operate as usual. Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Bir Bahadur Kapadi, urged one and all to exercise patience in this hour of sorrow.
The bus (Soup Pra 02-001 Kha 1119) en route to Sunkuda of Bajhang carrying a bride from Purchaudi municipality-7 overturned at Badgaun turn of Purchaudi last evening. In the accident, 8 people died on the spot and 5 in course of treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital. As many as 34 people were injured in the accident. The injured are undergoing treatment in Dadeldhura, Bajhang and Dhangadhi.
