. A statue of the martyrs of the Jenji movement is to be erected on the premises of the new parliament building being constructed inside Singha Durbar.
The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to construct a statue of the martyrs of the Jenji movement in the parliament building.TAG_OPEN_p_5 After the meeting, Home Minister and government spokesperson Om Prakash Aryal said that the meeting decided to amend the master plan of the Singha Durbar premises for the construction of statue in the premises of the Parliament building.
On September 23 and 24, 76 people were killed during demonstrations by youths of the Genji generation demanding corruption and good governance.TAG_OPEN_p_4 Of them, the government has so far declared 45 of them as martyrs.
The government has said that preparations are underway to bring the under-construction new Parliament Building inside Singha Durbar into use after March 4 following the arson of the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.TAG_OPEN_p_3
