‘No shortage of gas’: NOC

. KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has claimed that there is no shortage of cooking gas (LPG) in the market at a time when consumers are complaining that they are not getting cooking gas easily. Issuing a press release today, the corporation informed that the industries have been instructed to ease the supply of cylinders.

According to the NOC, 47,304 metric tonnes of cooking gas was imported from India in January.TAG_OPEN_p_5 Similarly, 47,264 metric tonnes of cooking gas was imported in November and 48,531 metric tonnes in December. According to the import, there is enough cooking gas to meet the demand of the winter season.

Spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur said that directives have been issued to ease the supply to some industries as there is a shortage of cylinders in some industries at present.TAG_OPEN_p_4

He also said that considering the situation of LP gas in the market, demand and the upcoming elections, preparations are being made to provide additional two thousand metric tons of gas for the month of February.TAG_OPEN_p_3 The corporation has also urged the consumers to purchase LPG only as per the need and not to store it unnecessarily.
