Narayanghat-Butwal road bridge construction completes at cost of Rs 17 billion

. The construction of 34 bridges along the eastern section of the Narayanghat-Butwal road has been completed. According to the eastern section of the Narayanghat-Butwal Road Project, 33 bridges have already been constructed.

According to Engineer Shiva Khanal, information officer of the project, the construction of all the bridges has been completed after the completion of the slope of the eighth span of the Arun Khola bridge.TAG_OPEN_p_7 In this section, 22 small (up to 25 m) and 12 large (over 25 m) bridges were constructed.

Small bridges have come into operation and big bridges are under construction, but transportation has already resumed. According to Khanal, preparations are underway to resume vehicular movement from Arun River bridge before the March 4 elections.

The road expansion work has been expedited in the eastern section. Of the 65 kilometers road from Narayanghat to Daunne, blacktopping has been completed in most places except Daunne. Works on paving the remaining roads, constructing culverts, widening the road and controlling landslides are going on in the Daunne area.

The physical progress of the eastern section has now reached 76 percent.TAG_OPEN_p_4 The government had signed an agreement with the Chinese company China State Engineering Construction Corporation on February 7, 2020 for the expansion of the road. The estimated cost of both the sections is approximately Rs 17 billion, of which 85% is loan assistance from ADB.
