Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Poudel is set to embark on an official visit to Japan today to mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan. At the invitation of the Japanese government, President Poudel will travel to Japan leading a Nepali delegation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Amrit Bahadur Rai, Secretary at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Poudel is scheduled to depart for Japan on Nepal Airlines flight number 433 at 11.30 pm today. He is scheduled to return home at 4:30 pm on February 4 after completing his visit.

During the visit, President Poudel is scheduled to attend a special ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan to be organised by the Government of Japan on January 3.

Likewise, President Poudel has scheduled a courtesy call on the Japanese Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on February 5. On the same day, President Poudel is scheduled to hold talks with the Prime Minister of Japan, Takeichi Sanae, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the visit, he will also pay courtesy call on Japan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hori Ibao.

During the visit, President Poudel will interact with the Japanese business community and attend a reception to be hosted by the Embassy of Nepal in Japan.

President Poudel will be accompanied by his spouse Sabita Poudel and high-level government officials.
