Army claims 45 per cent physical progress of fast-track

. KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) has stated that it is working to complete the Kathmandu-Tarai Fast Track by mid-April 2083.

According to Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet, the project has so far achieved 45.16 per cent physical and 45.33 per cent financial progress.TAG_OPEN_p_9

There will be 10.TAG_OPEN_p_8 979 kilometers of tunnel on the fast track. Breakthrough of Lendanda and Dhedre tunnels has been completed while around 70 percent of the construction of Mahadevtar tunnel has been completed.

According to the Army, out of 89 bridges to be constructed under the project, 13 have been completed while construction of the remaining bridges has already been completed.TAG_OPEN_p_7

During the construction, 54,000 trees were cut down and 750,000 saplings have been planted so far and 151,000 of them have been handed over to the community forest.TAG_OPEN_p_6

The dispute over the Khokana area is yet to be resolved and efforts are being made to resolve it by coordinating with all agencies, the Army said.TAG_OPEN_p_5
