Kathmandu. The government has claimed that the IGP Dan Bahadur Karki has not been taken action but only changed his responsibility. After the cabinet meeting, government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel made this assertion.

The government has decided to appoint AIG Manoj KC as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and appoint Karki as the special security advisor to the Prime Minister.

According to Pokharel, KC has been promoted to the post of IG effective from today.

“The post of Special Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Inspector General of Police level will be created at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers,” Pokharel said, adding that Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki would be deputed to the post of Special Security Advisor to the Prime Minister. ’

“Dan Bahadur Karki will be appointed as the Special Security Advisor to the Prime Minister. Manoj Kumar KC will be promoted to the post of Inspector General of Police with effect from November 3, 2008 as per Rule 41 of the Police Regulations, 2071,” he said.

Journalists asked him about the reason for taking action against Karki. To this question, Pokharel said, “It is only a change in his responsibility rather than in the form of action. He has been brought to the Prime Minister’s Office as a security advisor. Now that the new IGP comes, he will do what is necessary.” ’
