{{TAG_OPEN_strong_10}Kathmandu. TAG_CLOSE_strong_10 The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started a bike ambulance service from today. The metropolis has started the bike ambulance service with the objective of making health services more effective and emergency rescue faster.
This service has been brought into operation bearing in mind the problem of increasing number of vehicles within the metropolis and narrow roads and increasing traffic pressure making it difficult for traditional ambulances to reach patients.
It is expected that the bike ambulance will help the health workers to reach the sick and injured people in case of emergency. It is believed that this will help in providing immediate medical assistance, especially in areas where there is traffic jam and it is difficult for ambulances to reach.
It is expected that timely delivery of health services during emergencies will help save lives of patients and reduce health risks.
Earlier, the KMC had announced the plan to operate bike ambulance service in the policy and program of the fiscal year 2083/84 keeping in mind the narrow roads and increasing traffic pressure.
