Kathmandu. The Ministry of Education and Sports has decided to take action against teachers involved in the activities of political parties.
Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the spokesperson of the government, has directed the government to take action against the teachers involved in any political activities.
He also directed to monitor the political activities of teachers in schools across the country. Rule 133 of the Education Rules, 2059 (10th Amendment) states that a teacher should not influence or attempt to influence anyone politically or undesirablely.
According to the Education Minister’s Secretariat, the local governments have been requested to take necessary action against the teachers and employees concerned as per the prevailing laws, stating that the involvement of teachers in political activities would be against the provisions of the regulation.
The letter has also asked the Education Development and Coordination Unit to inform about the action taken. The information of the letter has been given to the Department of Education under the Ministry of Education and Sports.
