Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who is leaving for New York to attend the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations, has broken the traditional style of farewell.
Prime Minister Shah is leaving for New York this afternoon leading a high-level Nepali delegation, according to his private secretariat.
So far, there is no formal farewell ceremony scheduled for him at the VIP lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport. He will go directly to the airport from Baluwatar and will go to the plane via VIP way.
Prime Minister Shah’s press advisor Deepa Dahal said, “The Prime Minister is busy in Singha Durbar throughout the day, there are important meetings. After that, he is scheduled to enter the airport from his residence at 6:20 pm. He will leave for New York by Qatar Airways at 7 pm. I do not know the details of the other programs. ’
According to a source at the secretariat, the Prime Minister used to hold a formal program in the VIP lounge of the airport during his foreign visits.
Normally, ministers, chiefs of security agencies, high-ranking officials, foreign diplomats and leaders of political parties arrive at the airport to bid farewell to the prime minister.
Similarly, although there is a tradition of giving a guard of honor to the Prime Minister on the farewell of the Prime Minister, the program of honor has not been decided. It is said that no formal program has been organized for the Prime Minister as the country is in mourning due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi.
Prime Minister Shah will address the high-level session of the AHA on September 24. Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal has already reached New York as part of the Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister Shah.
He is scheduled to meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Prime Minister Shah will return home on September 23.
