Bhotekoshi floods: 1,451 bodies recovered

Kathmandu. As of 8 am on Monday, 1,451 bodies have been recovered due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa.

Of them, 236 were in Rasuwa, 203 in Nuwakot, 72 in Dhading, 367 in Chitwan, 79 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 232 in Nawalparasi East and 222 in Nawalparasi West. Two died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

So far, 1,292 bodies have been preserved (preserved under the soil) after completing the necessary procedures for the identification of the bodies. A total of 3,283 DNA samples, including 1,286 of the deceased and 1,997 of the relatives, have been collected for the identification of the bodies.

The details of 1,362 unidentified bodies have also been uploaded on the Nepal Police website.

So far, 7,975 police personnel have been deployed in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution, dead body management and other works. Search is underway for 4,655 people who have gone missing so far.

Similarly, 1,342 people have been kept in holding centers in various districts.
