Kathmandu. A ship with 240 passengers on board has gone out of contact in Indonesia.
The ship went missing in the Java Sea, Indonesian search and rescue officials said. According to the South Kalimantan Province’s Search and Rescue Agency, the ship was traveling from Surabaya in East Java province to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan province.
During the voyage, contact with the ship was lost. The last contact with the ship was about 80 nautical miles from the Banjarmasin Search and Rescue Center. A rescue ship has been sent to search and rescue the missing ship and to determine the situation.
Before losing contact, the passenger ship encountered bad weather at sea, citing an Indonesian official, Xinhua news agency reported.
