Kathmandu. The work procedure will be prepared for the implementation of the Rs 1 billion scholarship scheme announced for the education of children in the flood-affected areas of Bhotekoshi.
Discussions are underway that the necessary amount for this scheme will be transferred under various headings under the Ministry of Education and can be managed from the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Bir Bahadur Dhami, said that the amount would be mobilized as conditional grants at the maximum local level and partly through the provincial and federal offices.
The scheme will be especially focused on the three most affected districts: Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. He said that the funds will be provided on the basis of proper need assessment and certification.
This budget will not only be limited to providing scholarships in cash or direct to students, but will also be used to support a child’s entire learning process, educational materials, residential facilities and reconstruction.
The government had announced an ‘Assured Future Scholarship Scheme’ worth around one billion rupees for the education of students affected by the floods.
According to the preliminary information, 19 schools in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading have been completely and partially damaged by the floods. According to the report, 16 teachers and 217 students are out of contact and the learning of 9,742 students has been affected.
