Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader and parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe has demanded the government to immediately implement the recommendations made by the National Human Rights Commission regarding the incidents that took place during the Genji movement.
Issuing a press release on the occasion of the completion of one year of the Gen-G movement, Angdembe paid tribute to the youths who lost their lives during the agitation and wished speedy recovery to the injured. He also paid tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to Angdembe, the Genji youths took to the streets against corruption, irregularities, nepotism, misgovernance and despair. He said that their demands were not limited to the change of government but were linked to the quest for good governance, accountability, transparency, employment, opportunities and a new political culture.
He said, “A year ago, Gen-G youth took to the streets against corruption, irregularities, nepotism, misgovernance and despair. Their voice was not just for a change of government. They were looking for a new political culture with good governance, accountability, transparency, employment and opportunity. ’
He claimed that the peaceful demonstration on September 23 was instigated to turn violent and the then government used excessive force and the next day, on September 24, there was arson, vandalism and destruction. He said that these incidents have caused huge loss of life and property.
“The planned infiltration and incitement of peaceful demonstration on September 23 to violence, the use of excessive force by the then government followed by arson, vandalism and vandalism on September 24 caused huge loss of life and property in the country,” he said. ’
He said that the commission has investigated the incident and recommended action against all those involved in incitement, infiltration, excessive force and the destruction of September 24. Angdembe said that the government should make the report of the commission public immediately.
He also said that there is room for suspicion of interference by the ruling leadership to protect some characters in the report. He claimed that the report was more credible than the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led commission.
