Kathmandu. More than 87,000 gas cylinders have been brought to Kathmandu through alternative routes in the last three days after the road collapsed at Krishnabhir of Dhading along the Prithvi Highway.
According to NOC, a total of 87,877 cylinders have been brought to Kathmandu from factories based in Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhanusha and Mahottari.
According to NOC Spokesperson Manoj Thakur, 24,494 cylinders entered the Kathmandu Valley on September 3, 34,134 on September 2 and 29,249 cylinders on September 2. The NOC has been supplying petroleum products and LP gas through alternative routes in and around the Kathmandu Valley after the main highway was obstructed.
On August 28, when the road was blocked at Krishnabhir on the Prithvi Highway due to the erosion of the Trishuli river, tankers and gas bullets carrying fuel were stopped on the way. Immediately after this, the corporation made arrangements to bring gas cylinders filled to Kathmandu by using alternative routes.
The NOC has directed the LPG industry to regularize the refilling and transportation even on public holidays in order to ease the supply of gas.
