Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that cooperation, unity and reconstitution of the communist movement was the need of the hour. <\/p>\n
Speaking at an interaction program on cooperation, unity and restructuring in communist movement here today, he said the situation in the country was extraordinary and the issue of national independence was going through a big crisis. <\/p>\n
He was of the view that achievements gained through long struggle and sacrifice were being snatched away and pressure and interference from various types of imperialist and reactionary forces were increasing. <\/p>\n
“The situation in the country today is extraordinary. The issue of national independence has gone through a great crisis. The achievements of long struggles and sacrifices are being taken away. On top of that, the pressure and interference of various types of imperialist and reactionary elements is increasing. \u2019<\/p>\n
In such a situation, there is a need for party unity among the forces that share similar views, cooperation among the forces that have consensus on certain ideas and issues of the time and the front between the forces that have collaborated in favor of peace and constitution and federal democratic republic in the past, he said. <\/p>\n
Stating that they have been comrades of the same party at some point or the other, Prachanda said the present time and situation has inspired and compelled all to seriously introspect. <\/p>\n
“All of us present here were comrades of the same party at one time or another,” he said. Today, time and circumstances have once again inspired and compelled everyone to seriously introspect. \u2019<\/p>\n
He said that the communist movement, which has been moving ahead in a fertile manner, has now reached a defensive position and there is a need to seriously review the root causes of the big setback and crisis. <\/p>\n
“History, class struggle and political struggle have brought us all to the point of reviewing it,” he said. <\/p>\n
Prachanda said that the incidents of destruction on September 7 and 24 have shown the horror of counter-revolution. He said that the communists should take the experience of this incident and review their serious mistakes. <\/p>\n
He said, “We have seen the horror of counter-revolution with the destruction of September 23 and 24. What I have said from my experiences is that somewhere or the other, we communists have made some serious mistakes. \u2019<\/p>\n
Recalling that the Nepali people had reposed faith in the Communist Party time and again, participated in a big sacrifice and also voted overwhelmingly in the election process, Prachanda said that it was a serious question that the communist movement and achievements could not be saved despite this. <\/p>\n
“Why couldn’t we save the communists from believing in them time and again despite the overwhelming support of the Nepali people not only participating in big sacrifices but also voting overwhelmingly in the election process? It’s a serious question,” he said. <\/p>\n
He stressed that the leaders and cadres of the communist party should seriously introspect on the past mistakes and come to a conclusion as to where the main mistakes occurred. He said that it would be difficult to achieve unity among the communist forces and make the unity achieved sustainable if this could not be done. <\/p>\n
“Unless we, who call ourselves leaders and cadres of the Communist Party, do a serious introspection on this issue and come to a conclusion about where the mistake went and what the main mistake is, then unity can be regained and that unity can be sustained,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
