Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice-President Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said the party does not want the incumbent government to fail. <\/p>\n
Speaking before the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress on Friday, Sharma said the opposition parties generally want to see the government failing, but the NC has not expressed such view. <\/p>\n
He recalled that the NC had helped to pass the policies and programmes from the National Assembly despite obstructing the House of Representatives as the failure of the new government’s policies and programmes would lead to disappointment in the society. <\/p>\n
“We don’t want the government to fail. Normally, when the voice of the opposition is heard, one expects the failure of the government. But the same NC party stood in the National Assembly on the same day and helped pass the policies and programs of the government at a time when the same party was obstructing the passage of the government’s policies and programs by standing in the House of Representatives. \u2019<\/p>\n
Claiming that the NC was moving ahead in a different way than in the past, Sharma urged the party leaders and cadres to internalize it. Referring to the Deuba faction of the Nepali Congress, he said that all should stand together with the new campaign forwarded by the party center. <\/p>\n
He said, “The Congress is working differently than in the past. This reality needs to be taken into consideration by every friend of the national gathering that began today. \u2019<\/p>\n
Recalling that NC had welcomed outgoing President Sher Bahadur Deuba upon his return to Kathmandu, Sharma said he expected the commitment from Deuba to listen to the views of all the party leaders and cadres. <\/p>\n
Stating that Deuba had mentioned the issue of assimilating the change and advancing the youths through a written statement, he said that it should be kept in the centre in the upcoming conference as well. <\/p>\n
“We expected the outgoing president to say, ‘I have returned to the country after a long time, I want to listen to everyone. However, a written statement has been issued. I want to embrace the change and talk about taking the youth forward. The national conference should also keep that at the centre,” he said. <\/p>\n
