Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Police in plain clothes are to be mobilized at various gas depots in the Kathmandu Valley in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Industry following information that black marketing of cooking gas was taking place in the country. <\/p>\n
Minister for Industry, Gauri Yadav, has expressed concern over the issue after receiving complaints from consumers at the Ministry of Industry that black marketing was being done by creating artificial shortage even though there was no problem in the import of cooking gas from India. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Minister Yadav sought the help of police from Home Minister Sudan Gurung to control the activities of selling cooking gas at a high price and creating artificial shortage in the market despite the easy supply of cooking gas. <\/p>\n
Following Yadav’s request, Home Minister Gurung directed the police administration to increase surveillance at gas depots and sales outlets and mobilize plain clothes police personnel as per the need. <\/p>\n
The government has stepped up surveillance on those involved in creating artificial shortage of cooking gas, hiding it and selling it at more than the fixed price. In addition, the monitoring will be made more effective to ensure that consumers have easy access to gas. <\/p>\n
