Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has said that the CPN-UML is ready to take to the streets to stop the arbitrariness of the government. Talking to media persons in Dang, he said that they have not thought of alternative as the government was formed only 4 months ago. <\/p>\n
“We have not yet reached the point where we have to look for alternatives within four months of the government starting its work,” he said. But people may have to take to the streets again to stop the arbitrary activities. Our party has asked the party cadres to come out on the streets at any time for the protection of the country and for the welfare of the people. \u2019<\/p>\n
He said that the democratic parties in the opposition should come together to stop the government from going in the wrong direction. “The political parties need to reform themselves to win the people’s trust,” he added. We will also improve our party. Our party is committed to protecting the constitution and democracy of the country and on the issues of people’s rights. \u2019<\/p>\n
He said that the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak were arrested in connection with the September 24 incident. <\/p>\n
He said, “It was said that the Home Minister should take responsibility for the use of force by the security agencies in connection with the incident on the 24th. The then prime minister and the home minister were blamed for the use of force by the security forces, saying that the political leadership was responsible. This government cannot be immune from the damage caused by the use of force during its time. Or the Prime Minister and the Home Minister should have apologized for doing what we did in the past without understanding. If not, he should resign and open the way for the case to be prosecuted. There is no double standard in governance. \u2019<\/p>\n
He also said that party vice-chair Bishnu Poudel was arrested on the charge of money laundering. <\/p>\n
“It is generally not appropriate to make arrests on the grounds of money laundering,” he added. Black money is a matter of purification, but due to the hassles in the tax system in Nepal, if people are not able to prove the legitimacy of their income, then all the people doing business in Nepal are victims of black money. \u2019<\/p>\n
