Doctors at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj have resigned en masse. They have demanded the resignation of the Chief District Officer (CDO) and the District Police Chief (SP), accusing the administration of misbehaving with them in connection with the vandalism and assault on doctors at the hospital last Saturday.

Dr. Narayani Hospital, a physician working at the hospital. According to Dr. Uday Narayan Singh, out of 70 doctors at the hospital, 40 doctors have signed up to the hospital. He has submitted his resignation to Chittaranjan Shah. He said that the signatures of the remaining doctors are being collected and all of them are preparing to resign.

At present, the emergency services of Narayani Hospital have been shut down and the health workers have taken to the streets. Dr. According to Singh, the doctors were positive after the Health Ministry requested them to resume emergency services on Monday.

They had reached the CDO office for talks after they were assured that legal action would be taken against those who attacked the doctors. However, he claims that the atmosphere there has suddenly become tense.

According to him, during the talks, a representative of the Nepal Medical Association warned that if action was not taken against the culprits, the CDO became angry. He alleged that the CDO and SP used abusive language against the doctors and directed the police to take them under control.

Dr. “As we were leaving the talks, police were deployed and the doctors were surrounded. The mobile phone was snatched, taken back into the office and kept under control for about an hour. They were treated like criminals. Then we came to the conclusion that it was not possible to work in such an environment. ’

According to him, the government doctors have decided to resign en masse after the behavior of the administration. “Who will run the emergency service after all the doctors have resigned? Sinhalese has not.

He reiterated his stance that they will not return to work as long as they remain in the post of CDO and SP. “How can there be a safe environment if doctors are beaten up inside the hospital and the administration threatens them again after calling them for talks? In such a situation, treatment cannot be provided,” he said. Singh says.

Meanwhile, Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has announced to shut down all health services except emergency across the country on Tuesday in protest against the attack on doctors and health workers.

The association has said that it will immediately arrest the culprits and take stern action, ensure safe working environment for doctors and make public more protest programs.

On July 8, Dr Pramod Ram was beaten up at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj, and health workers were attacked and vandalized. Now, Dr. Ram is undergoing treatment at the National Trauma Centre. Following the incident, doctors have shut down the OPD services across the country, demanding action against the culprits.

Kathmandu.
