Kathmandu. According to Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal, the main objective of the tunnel way construction is to shorten road distance, reduce fuel consumption and make travel safe and easy. <\/p>\n
Talking to media persons after inaugurating the Nagdhunga Tunnel Way on Monday, Minister Lamsal said the need for the construction of the tunnel way would be determined on the basis of distance of roads, viability of vehicles and geographical risk. <\/p>\n
He said that the tunnel way would reduce the travel journey as long distance travel consumes more fuel and would save fuel and transportation cost. According to him, the tunnel will save time and make transportation more effective. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Minister Lamsal said that the construction of tunnel way would be appropriate if the distance of a tunnel way would be significantly reduced and there would be adequate traffic pressure on that route. He said that such projects will be decided on the basis of ‘feasibility test’. <\/p>\n
Stating that tunnel way would be an effective alternative even in areas prone to landslides, he said the government was forwarding the construction of tunnel ways by prioritizing such places in future plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
