Kathmandu. The tunnel way linking Thankot and Nagdhunga has come into operation from today. Minister for Physical Infrastructure Sunil Lamsal inaugurated the tunnel. <\/p>\n
Lamsal is fortunate to be able to inaugurate Nepal’s first tunnel way within four months of becoming the minister. Lamsal got this opportunity as Prime Minister Balendra Shah was not interested in the inauguration. His name is inscribed on a new inscription placed on the tunnel. <\/p>\n
The inscription in golden color reads, “Nepal’s first modern road tunnel has been inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Infrastructure Development, Mr. Sunil Lamsal. \u2019<\/p>\n
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal and JICA Chair JICA inaugurated the tunnel by cutting the ribbon along with the Minister. There is also an inscription at the venue which has the national flags of Nepal and Japan. <\/p>\n
The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the tunnel way. According to Oli’s followers, the project was built as per Oli’s vision. However, there is no record of Oli laying the foundation stone at the project site.
