Kathmandu. Drawing the attention of the government towards the poor state of road infrastructure in Ilam district, Nepali Congress lawmaker Nishkal Rai demanded immediate repair and reconstruction of road infrastructure. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the emergency hour of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, lawmaker Rai said it was very difficult to transport the patients and new mothers to hospitals due to the dilapidated condition of various roads of Ilam including the Mechi Highway. <\/p>\n
“When we were talking about Ilam here, we used to call it Ilam instead of green. But today it has become muddy. The condition of the Mechi highway is so painful that it is not possible for a citizen from Ilam to come to a hospital in case of illness or a new mother from Jhapa. The road section of the palace is in a dilapidated condition. \u2019<\/p>\n
He also complained that the government has not paid any heed to the government’s demands to improve the condition of Ilam-Raj Durbar road section, Maijogmai Bailey Bridge, Puwakhola Bailey Bridge and Simalgol road section. <\/p>\n
Though Ilam was declared a crisis-hit district following the natural disaster last year, the required budget has not been fully allocated, he said. Sandakpur, Maijogmai, Rong and Suryodaya municipalities are at high risk of displacement, he said. <\/p>\n
Stating that the river erosion has caused a huge loss to arable land in Maijogmai Rural Municipality and surrounding areas, Rai urged the government to launch relief and river control programmes for the affected farmers. <\/p>\n
He has been admitted to Sandakpur Hospital, Suryodaya Municipality-12 to Ward No. 12. He also urged the government to forward local development projects including the road connecting 3 and the Maipokhari-Dhappokhari-Naya Bazaar road.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
