Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has clinched the title of the PL Singh Memorial T-20 Cup 2083. Kathmandu defeated Pokhara Metropolitan City by 8 wickets in the final match held at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. <\/p>\n
Elected to bat first after winning the toss, Kathmandu defeated Pokhara Metropolitan City by 122 runs all out. Chasing the target of 123 runs, Kathmandu’s opener Rit Gautam scored 71 runs off 38 balls. Ringjin Lama scored an unbeaten 50 runs to give Kathmandu just 12 runs. They won the title in 3 overs at the loss of 2 wickets. <\/p>\n
Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol and Pokhara Metropolis Mayor Dhanraj Acharya handed over the trophy along with Rs 1.1 million to the winners, while the runners-up received Rs 500,000 along with trophies, medals and certificates. Rit Gautam of Kathmandu was awarded with the player of the final award by social committee coordinator Ram Kumar KC. <\/p>\n
Pawan Sarraf, the best bowler and Rit Gautam the best batter were rewarded with Rs 21,000 each. Likewise, Arjun Kumal was named the best player of the tournament and was rewarded with Rs 51,000. Mayor of Chandragiri Municipality Ghanashyam Giri, Coordinator of Heritage and Tourism Committee of KMC Ashaman Sangat and Ward No. Chairman of Province 29 Kush Dhakal handed over the prize. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Upendra Bhattarai and Bijay Kumar Sharma were honoured with a cash prize of Rs 51,000 each for their contribution to the development, promotion and strengthening of cricket. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, Acting Chief Dangol said that the tournament, which will be remembered as the personality of former chief late Singh who was open-minded, is expected to contribute to the development of sports and production of players from the local level. <\/p>\n
The Inter-Metropolitan T-20 Games organized by Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is the game with the highest amount of money among the domestic tournaments. The winning team will get Rs 11 lakh, while the runner-up will get Rs 5 lakh. <\/p>\n
