Kathmandu. The first meeting of the Monsoon Response Command Post has decided to direct all bodies concerned to effectively implement the ‘Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan-2083’ and to report to the NRA monthly as per the action plan. <\/p>\n
A meeting presided over by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority Executive Chief Pradip Kumar Koirala on Monday decided to instruct the Home Ministry to instruct all 77 district security committees to ban vehicular operation in high-risk areas, including national highways and local road networks as per the seriousness of the disaster. <\/p>\n
The meeting also decided to request the Department of Roads, all the seven provinces and all 753 local levels to keep heavy equipment drivers on standby round the clock for the immediate operation of obstructed highways and roads, to keep minimum materials to be used in search, rescue and relief operations and to make arrangements for at least 15 days of food shortage in case vehicles cannot ply due to disruption of roads. <\/p>\n
The meeting also decided to request the Department to make arrangements to operate the Meteorological and Flood Forecasting Division of the Department round the clock throughout the monsoon period, to request the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other bodies to take necessary initiatives for the remaining Bailey Bridge as per the commitment of the Indian government and to collaborate with private sector, organizations, civil society among others to prevent the shortage of search and rescue equipment. <\/p>\n
