Kathmandu. Visually impaired and visually impaired people have staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu against the government. <\/p>\n
They have been protesting against attempts by various government agencies to arrest and forcibly remove them. <\/p>\n
Participating in the demonstration, Rojita Ayer demanded that the government ensure education, health and employment to them. She said that despite having the capacity and skills, she was compelled to take to the streets. <\/p>\n
“The government should provide us with education, health and employment. That’s how we have to come here on the streets. Let the government listen to us as soon as possible. All of us are compelled to take to the streets despite having the potential of youth. We also have children. Our demand is not to earn a living by sitting on the streets. We have come to draw attention to the need for employment. \u2019<\/p>\n
Ayer also accused the state of discriminating against blind and low-vision people. “The government has behaved unjustly, abused us, abused and abused us,” she said. <\/p>\n
The demonstrators demanded that the state guarantee decent employment, social security and human rights for persons with disabilities. <\/p>\n
