Kathmandu. Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Daniel Meuli. <\/p>\n
In the meeting held at the Ministry on Monday, matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations, mobilization of development assistance, the Swiss government’s support in Nepal’s education sector and enhancement of wider partnership in education sector were discussed. <\/p>\n
Switzerland is Nepal’s long-standing development partner in the development sector. The government has been providing support especially in the field of Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). <\/p>\n
In Nepal, the three projects ‘National Vocational Qualification System’, ‘Enhanced Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment’, and ‘Quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training for Youth’ are being implemented through CTEVT with the support of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Minister Pokharel thanked the Swiss government for its support to Nepal in development and education sector of Nepal, stating that Nepal and Switzerland enjoyed cordial relations. <\/p>\n
He said that the draft of the act related to CTEVT was in the process of being prepared and suggestions were being taken from the expert group to make technical education relevant and preparations were being made to table it in the parliament soon. <\/p>\n
Minister Pokharel also expected continuity of support the Swiss government has been providing in the technical and vocational education sector in Nepal. <\/p>\n
Briefing about the government’s priorities and future programmes, Minister Pokharel, who is also the government’s spokesperson, said Switzerland could collaborate with the Swiss government not only in technical education but also in the areas of digitalization and inclusive education in the days ahead. <\/p>\n
Minister Pokharel said that the Government of Nepal was working as per the policy of establishing special autism schools in all seven provinces and there was possibility of cooperation and cooperation in digitization and inclusive education sector. <\/p>\n
Stating that employment-oriented education should be emphasized right from the school level, he said the ‘Bookfree Friday’ programme operated in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City was effective and there was a plan to expand it throughout the country by incorporating it in the school curriculum. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Ambassador Daniel Meuli pledged to give the Swiss government support to Nepal in education sector in the days ahead. <\/p>\n
He said the Swiss government was always ready to support and cooperate with the concept adopted by the Government of Nepal. Ambassador Meuli informed the Education Minister that the three projects currently being run in the education sector would be merged and made more effective.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
