Kathmandu. Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) lawmaker Pramesh Kumar Hamal said the clarification made by the Foreign Minister was not acceptable to his party, accusing the Prime Minister’s remark in the parliament was against the national interest and territorial integrity of Nepal. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he expressed sorrow over the situation in which the parliament had to hold discussions on the issues of national self-respect, land integrity and border being divided within the parliament. <\/p>\n
“Today, we are compelled to discuss the issues of national self-respect, territorial integrity and border issues here. This is not a matter to be divided and discussed. We who are present in the parliament with the logo of Nepal’s map on our chests have become emotional when we are asked questions about nationality. \u2019<\/p>\n
Hamal said Nepal and Nepalis were never divided over the issues of nationality, border and dignity, and objected to the remark made by the Prime Minister from the parliament rostrum on Jeth 17. <\/p>\n
“On the 17th of last year, from this very rostrum, my Prime Minister had made an objectionable statement against the nation and against Nepal’s territorial integrity. Can a prime minister say that Nepal has also encroached its borders in many parts of India? No Nepali has said this. \u2019<\/p>\n
Reiterating that Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura are inseparable parts of Nepal, he called on the government to take effective diplomatic initiatives to bring back the encroached land. <\/p>\n
“Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura are Nepal’s parts. We want this encroached land back. As we have said, make diplomatic efforts, Mr. Prime Minister. Many structures are being built along the border, houses and lands are being retained. There are a lot of facts and figures, a lot of facts. \u2019<\/p>\n
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the clarification given by linking the Prime Minister’s statement to the issue of ‘cross-border hold’. <\/p>\n
“Is the fact that Nepal has encroached on India’s borders at many places is similar to the issue of cross-border hold? Can such an explanation save our self-respect and national pride?’ <\/p>\n
Claiming that the clarification given by the Foreign Minister was merely an attempt to cover up the Prime Minister’s remarks, Hamal said his party rejected the clarification. <\/p>\n
“I want to inform you that I have rejected the explanation of the Foreign Minister on behalf of my party. ” he said. <\/p>\n
