In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, she questioned which country’s wooden chairs were made from which country, expressing serious concern over the import of timber products worth billions of rupees annually despite the abundant potential of timber in Nepal. <\/p>\n
Stressing on the need of clarity on the government’s policy to increase domestic production, she questioned the government about the situation in which the files for extracting timber from the country would be stopped but the LC would be opened easily for foreign timber. “We will be shifting to the new parliament building in two or three days,” she said. <\/p>\n
Which country is the chair made of wood from which country where the Speaker and we MPs live? Timber products worth billions of rupees are being imported annually due to the lack of proper utilization of Nepal’s own timber. Today, the file is stopped for the import of domestic timber, but the LC is easily opened for the import of foreign timber. What kind of policy is this? I am not saying that all the deforestation should be done, but we should make good use of the natural resources that we have.
