The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee has assessed that 226,661 people in 51,868 households across the country will be affected. <\/p>\n
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast below normal rainfall and above average heat in this year’s monsoon. Due to this situation, there is a risk of monsoon-induced disasters like flood, landslide, inundation, soil erosion and flash floods in the lower coastal areas due to the outburst of glacial lakes in some high mountainous areas. <\/p>\n
A meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee held yesterday endorsed the Monsoon Preparedness and Response National Action Plan. The meeting also endorsed the standard related to formation and mobilization of search and rescue teams, 2083 with revision. <\/p>\n
According to the NRA, this has opened the legal way for the government mechanisms to be automatically mobilized as soon as a disaster occurs. Likewise, the Artificial Incident Practice Operation Procedure, 2083 BS has also been approved to make the practice effective and uniform during disaster. <\/p>\n
The meeting also made some amendments to the Private Housing Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Grant Work Procedure-2081 BS. Likewise, the meeting decided to depute 21 technical human resources to the District Project Implementation Units (DPIUs) to expedite the seismic reconstruction and rehabilitation works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
