Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s proposal to end the war. Iran has responded to the US proposal through Pakistan, but it has refused to accept the key conditions put forth by the US and Israel. <\/p>\n
Tehran’s response demanded an immediate ceasefire, lifting US sanctions, guarantees that Tehran would not attack again, ending economic sanctions, reparations for war damages, and recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, Iran insists that military activities in Lebanon and other areas should be stopped. <\/p>\n
Earlier, the US had sent a 14-point proposal to Iran. The key conditions included ending Iran’s uranium enrichment program, ending its stockpile of enriched uranium, accepting international inspections, keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, eliminating threats to US and international vessels, and ending support for regional armed groups. <\/p>\n
President Trump has expressed his dissatisfaction with Iran’s response because it does not show clear commitments on its nuclear program and does not address America’s security concerns. Trump said Iran’s response was “not appropriate” and warned that the US could take “tougher measures” if necessary. <\/p>\n
The latest developments have further escalated tensions in the Gulf region. Iran has warned of action against foreign ships in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil routes, while Britain and France have stepped up maritime security operations. <\/p>\n
The escalation of tensions has affected the international oil market. After the rejection of the US proposal, the price of crude oil has started rising again and worries about the energy crisis have increased in the global market. Analysts say the chances of an immediate end to the war appear slim as both sides are sticking to their positions. <\/p>\n
