President Ram Chandra Poudel, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, issued the &#8216;Special Provision Ordinance on the Removal of Public Officials from Office-2083&#8217;. <\/p>\n<p>A total of 1,594 political appointees who were appointed under various acts and structures will be relieved of their posts by the government led by Prime Minister Balen Shah. <\/p>\n<p>KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has relieved 6 office-bearers including its executive director. Similarly, 4 positions of Kathmandu Valley Development Authority, 6 posts of Nepal Water Supply Corporation and 6 posts of Municipal Development Fund are also vacant. <\/p>\n<p>Similarly, 10 members including the chairperson and members nominated under the Press Council Act-2048 BS and six members appointed under the Working Journalists Act, 2051 have been relieved of their posts. <\/p>\n<p>The list also includes 3 officials of the Public Procurement Review Committee, 6 under the Competition Promotion and Market Protection Act and 5 officials of the Industrial Business Development Academy. <\/p>\n<p>KATHMANDU: The government has relieved 10 officials of the Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Administrator of Nepal Railways. <\/p>\n<p>The Balen government has also carried out a major &#8216;surgical strike&#8217; on financial and regulatory bodies. The posts of 8 office-bearers of Employees Provident Fund and 3 of Citizen Investment Trust have been stripped. The government has relieved 15 office-bearers of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN), one of the Securities Board of Nepal and three of the Deposit and Credit Securities Fund. <\/p>\n<p>The ordinance has not spared even the top brass of the cooperative and investment sectors. Eight office-bearers appointed under the Cooperative Act, which regulates the crisis-hit cooperative sector, and 4 office-bearers of the Public-Private Partnership and Investment Board have been relieved of their posts. <\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the posts of 1 office bearer of Special Economic Zone (SEZ), 2 under Insurance Act and 6 office bearers under Accreditation Act have also been stripped. <\/p>\n<p>Four people appointed under the Nepal Administrative Training Academy Act-2039 and one person appointed under the Local Development Training Academy Act-2049 will be deployed. Similarly, 10 officials appointed under the Social Welfare Act, 2049 and 14 appointed under the Nepal Engineering Council Act-2055 will be relieved from their posts. <\/p>\n<p>Ten posts appointed under the Foreign Employment Act, 2064 and three under the Nepal Trust Act-2064 will remain vacant.
