Kathmandu. Independent lawmaker and former minister Mahabir Pun has made his property details public on social media. He said that he himself posted it on Facebook out of doubt that the Parliament Secretariat would not make it public. <\/p>\n
According to the property details shown by Pun, he owns four pieces of land and does not own a single house. He said he was living in a rented house. <\/p>\n
Pun’s permanent address is Khurkhure Tole of Rapti Municipality-8 in Chitwan. He said he got his citizenship from here. Similarly, he is currently living in a rented house at Hamaltole of Kaski. <\/p>\n
According to Pun, he owns four pieces of land in Ward No. 7 of Majhthana Rural Municipality of Kaski. According to him, he bought all these lands in 1992 with Padam Pun for a total of Rs 400,000. The total area of the land is 4 ropani and 6 annas. He said that all this land was put up for sale but it has not been sold yet. <\/p>\n
He said that he has 3 tolas of gold which was bought in 2060 BS. He claimed that the gold was gifted to his wife by a friend. He also has Rs 29 lakh in cash in two banks. Out of this, Rs 25 lakh was raised from the support received during the recent elections. <\/p>\n
He said that he is spending this amount to run his liaison office in Beni. The remaining four lakhs have also been received from friends and will be spent personally, Pun said. <\/p>\n
According to Pun’s statement, he does not own a vehicle and has zero shares in the bank. He said that he is depositing the money earned by selling 2.5 lakh copies of his autobiography in the account of Avishkar Kendra. <\/p>\n
“Look at all the details of my physical property submitted by member of the House of Representatives, Mahabir Pun, to the Federal Parliament Secretariat. Scholars and people who are angry that Mahavir Pun amassed millions of rupees by opening the National Innovation Center and selling his books should look at this and investigate. <\/p>\n
According to Pun, he had submitted this information even when he was the education minister, but the then government did not make it public. <\/p>\n
