Kathmandu. The Stock Brokers Association of Nepal has submitted a 6-point demand letter drawing the attention of the Finance Minister to resolve the existing problems seen in the capital market. <\/p>\n
The letter signed by Bhakti Ram Ghimire, general secretary of the association, states that there are high expectations from the new government and the Finance Minister at a time when more than 5.6 million investors and 52 brokers are active in the market at present. The Association has expressed the belief that the capital market would be developed and investors’ morale would be boosted only if the problems faced by the securities brokers were resolved. <\/p>\n
Among the demands put forward for reform have been given priority to the immediate implementation of the recommendations made by the Capital Market Reform Task Force. <\/p>\n
Likewise, the bill calls for making arrangements for easy entry and exit of banks and financial institutions in the capital market and removing the existing provision of selling shares only after 6 months of purchase of shares. The Association has also urged the government to create an environment where Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) can also trade shares in the secondary market in an easy manner. <\/p>\n
Regarding the tax and technical aspects, it has been demanded that the capital gains tax should be clarified as the final tax in the upcoming budget and various funds of government institutions should be encouraged to invest in the secondary market. <\/p>\n
Stating that the investors are facing the problem of ‘close out’ as the shares could not be transferred even after selling the shares, the ‘auction market’ should be operated as soon as possible to resolve this problem. The association has strongly urged the Finance Minister to direct the regulatory bodies to fully implement the Settlement Guarantee Fund as per the working procedures made in 2075 and 2079.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
