Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested 226 people in four days on the charge of hooliganism and middlemen. Central Police Spokesperson Deputy Inspector General of Police Avi Narayan Kafle said that legal action has been initiated by arresting 226 people in course of the search operation on April 1, 19, 20 and 21. <\/p>\n
They were arrested on charges of hooliganism, middlemen, indecent behavior and other illegal activities. According to him, the operation has been launched against those harassing public service delivery, indulging in middlemen activities in public places, bus parks, airports, transport offices and hooliganism in different places. Further investigation into the case is underway. <\/p>\n
Police had arrested 51 people from Kathmandu Valley, 18 from Koshi Province, one from Koshi, seven from Madhes Province, 23 from Bagmati, two from Gandaki and 11 from Karnali on March 2. Likewise, eight people were arrested from Madhes state, 10 from Gandaki, four from Lumbini, two from Sudurpaschim state and 62 from Kathmandu Valley on July 7. <\/p>\n
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Kafle said that the campaign is continuing. Meanwhile, Yubaraj Gurung aka ‘Sanubhai’ has also been arrested on the charge of hooliganism. Nepal Police central spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Kafle said that a circular has been issued to police offices across the country to take action. <\/p>\n
