Kathmandu. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal has stressed the need to create opportunities for youths in the country by linking skills with employment and production. <\/p>\n
Inaugurating the ‘Labor Skills and Employment Fair-2083’ launched by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security from Koshi state here today, Speaker Aryal said skills were not an additional qualification but the basis for the prosperity of the individual, society and nation. <\/p>\n
Stating that the constitution has guaranteed the right related to employment and labour as the fundamental rights, he stressed the need of creating opportunities so that they could be realized in practice. <\/p>\n
Stating that more than 66 per cent of the total population of Nepal is in the labourable age group according to the National Census, 2078 BS, this should be utilized as the demographic dividend. <\/p>\n
According to him, skills as per the demand of the market, employment as per the skills and production related to employment should be made an important direction of the labor and employment policy. <\/p>\n
On the occasion, Speaker Aryal recalled that the ‘Shramdhan Employment Fair’ kicked off from Koshi Province on Jestha 17, 2081 BS when he was the head of the Labour Ministry was organised in all seven provinces. <\/p>\n
A total of 41,325 people visited the fair while 17,921 applicants applied for employment and 14,788 applications from employers. <\/p>\n
He said that coordination between skill development and labour market was necessary to end the imbalance between youths seeking employment in the country and the need to bring foreign workers in the absence of manpower. He also stressed on the need to expand domestic employment by making the ‘Shramdhan Call Centre’ and other initiatives more effective. <\/p>\n
He said that the fair is an important initiative towards skill-oriented, productive and decent employment. <\/p>\n
The expo will offer hands-on training on 10 topics including entrepreneurship, digital marketing, hospitality, beautician, cook and waiter, electric vehicle and air conditioning. <\/p>\n
In addition, employers, training organizations, banks and financial institutions will participate through 65 stalls. <\/p>\n
