KATHMANDU: While meteorologists are predicting torrential rain in various parts of the country from September 24, the government agencies have said that it is not possible to say how much rain will occur right now. <\/p>\n
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that it is closely monitoring the weather activities and will inform them when the situation is ascertained. Meteorologists have said that if the low-pressure system developing in the Bay of Bengal mixes with the westerly wind, it may have a severe impact in Nepal. <\/p>\n
There is a possibility of heavy rain especially in the Gandaki and eastern areas. According to meteorologist Ujjwal Upadhyay, although it is not yet clear how much it will fall, there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall. <\/p>\n
Climate disaster experts say that even if only 100 millimeters of rain is received in 24 hours, the risk of flooding in streams and landslides in hilly areas will be high. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, it will take some more time to reach concrete conclusions as the weather tracks are constantly changing. <\/p>\n
Chief of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) Dharma Raj Upreti has urged the citizens not to be unduly scared. <\/p>\n
