KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Khumbu Oli has demanded that the government immediately hand over the bodies of those who lost their family members in the disaster. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Oli cited the hardships faced by the family of Prakash Joshi of Trishuli Bazaar of Bidur Municipality-1 in Nuwakot district as an example. <\/p>\n
According to her, Joshi has lost not only his business and home but also five members of his family \u2014 mother, wife, two sons and daughter-in-law. She said that even though the body of one of the sons was found, the DNA report was not received and the family was finding it difficult to hand over the body. <\/p>\n
Oli said, “He is not one person, there are many families who are going through this situation. Now how can a person who is in pain like him wait for so long? The sensitivity of the state is necessary here. \u2019<\/p>\n
She said that Joshi informed her that it had been more than 15 days since the police had given blood for DNA at the hospital, but the report had not come. Oli also informed the House that the DNA report would be taken for all at once and it could take up to three to four months. <\/p>\n
She urged the government to hand over the dead body to the family immediately after making separate arrangement of the dead body which has been fully identified. <\/p>\n
“At the very least, we should either hand over the responsibility to the families of those who have been clearly identified, or if we need DNA, we should arrange for the DNA reports to come as soon as possible,” she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
