Kathmandu. CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel has said that legal action should be taken against the perpetrators and conspirators involved in the violence during last year’s ‘Genji Movement’. <\/p>\n
Expressing his condolences to the families of those injured and losing their children, Pokharel claimed that a conspiracy was hatched to incite peaceful demonstrations and turn them into violence. <\/p>\n
He said that the demands of controlling corruption and maintaining good governance, facilitating service delivery and free use of social media are legitimate. He said that these demands are a matter of common concern for all. <\/p>\n
Claiming that the then government did not ban social media, Pokharel said that the new generation has come to the streets as it could not clarify the policy of registering in Nepal. <\/p>\n
“It is now clear as the sun that there was a well-planned conspiracy to incite peaceful demonstrations of youths and turn them violent,” he wrote. <\/p>\n
Pokharel said that the real spirit of the Genji movement would be respected to identify the perpetrators and conspirators involved in the peaceful demonstration and bring them to book. <\/p>\n
He alleged that the present government was not in accordance with the spirit of the Jenji movement but under the plan and influence of those who hijacked the movement. General Secretary Pokharel said that the main need of the hour is to respect the sentiments of the youth, guarantee good governance in the country and establish the rule of law. <\/p>\n
Stating that the UML was committed to moving ahead together with the youths to address their aspirations and genuine demands, he claimed that the party was in favour of the youths in the past, present and future as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
