Nepal Police has started the process of DNA testing to search for the people who went missing due to the flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa and to identify the unclaimed bodies and human organs. <\/p>\n<p>Nepal Police has issued a notice to identify the dead bodies and body parts found on the banks of the river after the devastating floods on August 23 and requested the relatives of the deceased to provide DNA samples to the relatives of the deceased. <\/p>\n<p>According to the notice, the first generation relatives of the disappeared people living in the country and abroad will have to complete the process for DNA testing. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What should relatives do at home? <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>According to the notice issued by Nepal Police, any one of the nearest blood relatives (father, mother, son or daughter) of the missing Nepali or foreign citizens should present a passport size photo of 2 copies of the case. <\/p>\n<p>For DNA profiling, fresh blood sample should be given and for this, one should contact the pathology lab of Nepal Police Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu or the nearest District Police Office. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What should the family abroad do? <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>In case of foreign or non-resident Nepalis living abroad, either father, mother, son or daughter should get &#8216;Autosomal STR DNA profiling&#8217; done from the official forensic laboratory of the concerned country. <\/p>\n<p>The police have also requested to send a softcopy (digital copy) of the profile to the official email of Nepal Police. <\/p>\n<p>The email should include the full name and nationality of the person concerned, details of the passport or official identity card, the date and possible location of the person&#8217;s disappearance, and the DNA profiling report of a recognized laboratory. <\/p>\n<p>The email will also have to disclose the family relationship between the person who gave the DNA and the missing person. <\/p>\n<p>Nepal Police has also assigned two liaison officers for DNA testing and coordination. <\/p>\n<p>Police Inspector Shambhu Bahadur KC: 9841616095<\/p>\n<p>Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Bishnu Ghimire: 9857091013<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, the process has been made mandatory to identify a large number of people and hand them over to the family members after identifying them scientifically as the floods have swept away a large number of people and some of the bodies are found in mutilated state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu.
